Unlocking Incremental Reach with Pinterest Audiences on Performance TV

lg-hero-2x

The brand

LG is a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, with a broad portfolio spanning TVs, washers, and other household products.

To support ongoing growth, LG has invested in streaming TV through tvScientific by Pinterest to drive both reach and performance across key product categories.

The challenge

LG has been a long time tvScientific partner, running streaming TV campaigns for over three years.
While performance remained strong, the team faced a key limitation: scale.

Their campaigns were constrained by a fixed budget cap, often hitting limits early in the month. This made it difficult to expand reach and capture additional demand, even when performance remained efficient.

LG wanted to understand:

  • Could they unlock incremental reach beyond their existing audience strategy?
  • Could new audiences maintain strong performance efficiency?
  • Was there an opportunity to justify increased investment in CTV?

The approach

To explore this, LG partnered with tvScientific and Pinterest to test a new audience strategy.

The test compared:

  • tvScientific’s standard audience targeting
  • vs Pinterest high-intent audiences applied to tvScientific campaigns

Pinterest helped identify audiences with strong affinity to LG’s core categories, including:

  • Home decor
  • Furniture
  • Home maintenance

These audiences reflect consumers actively researching and planning purchases, making them a strong match for LG’s product portfolio.

The campaign ran over a short test period, using LG’s existing product focused creative across categories like TVs and home appliances.

The test

The goal of the test was simple:

Determine whether Pinterest intent audiences could drive incremental reach and performance improvements compared to LG’s existing targeting strategy.

Despite running for only ~1 week, the test generated enough data to evaluate impact across key metrics.

Results since launch

Pinterest audience targeting unlocked meaningful new scale for LG’s streaming TV campaigns.

New customer growth

award-icon Increase in net new customers of 24% driven by Pinterest audiences in the campaign1

Pinterest audiences helped LG reach consumers who had not previously been exposed to their campaigns.

What made it work

Pinterest intent signals

Pinterest audiences are built from real user behavior, capturing moments when consumers are actively researching products and planning purchases.

For LG, this meant reaching consumers already showing interest in home and electronics categories.

Incremental audience expansion

The test confirmed that Pinterest audiences were additive, not duplicative.

This unlocked new scale for LG, allowing them to reach audiences beyond their existing targeting strategy.

tvScientific optimization

tvScientific’s optimization engine ensured that campaigns remained efficient while scaling, prioritizing high value viewers even as reach expanded.

Why it matters

For brands like LG, one of the biggest challenges in streaming TV is scaling campaigns without sacrificing performance.

This test showed that bringing intent signals into CTV targeting can unlock both.

By combining Pinterest’s audience data with tvScientific’s platform, LG was able to:

  • Reach new audiences
  • Maintain strong efficiency
  • Identify clear opportunities to scale investment

The results point to a larger opportunity: using intent driven audiences to expand the role of streaming TV as both a reach and performance channel.

This test showed that we can expand beyond our existing audience strategy without sacrificing efficiency. The incremental reach and performance were both strong.
